Purpose and function in the BMW X1 E84

The presented trim is a component from the Console Parts group, responsible for the aesthetic and structural framing of the gear selector in the centre tunnel. Its tasks include:

• stable mounting of the gear lever gaiter or selector module,
• covering the edges of the cutout in the centre console,
• maintaining a consistent stylistic line of the BMW X1 E84 interior. Thanks to its factory origin from BMW, dimensional compatibility with the original console is maintained, which reduces the risk of play, squeaks, or unsightly gaps after installation.

Construction and fit to the centre console

The trim has been designed as an integral element of the centre tunnel, with appropriately shaped edges and mounting points. The design provides:

• a profile matched to the factory cutout for the gear selector in the BMW X1 E84,
• geometry allowing for the correct guidance of the gaiter or selector panel,
• a surface prepared to work with other console trim elements. Such a solution facilitates assembly and disassembly during service, gaiter replacement, or interior upgrades, without the need for modifications to the centre tunnel.

Characteristics of the used component

The offered trim comes from dismantling, which means it is an original BMW component with preserved factory geometry and mounting points. The used nature of the part allows for economical repair or restoration of the interior while maintaining compatibility with factory equipment. This type of element is particularly useful for:

• replacing a damaged or cracked trim in the centre tunnel,
• restoring the completeness of the console after modifications,
• interior service when maintaining the original look of the cockpit is required.

Application in service and interior upgrades

The centre console gear selector trim will prove useful both in post-accident repairs and during a calm restoration of the BMW X1 E84 interior. It enables:

• restoration of the factory fit of elements around the gear lever,
• obtaining an aesthetic transition between the centre tunnel and the selector cover,
• maintaining consistent ergonomics of the gearbox control zone. For workshops and private users, this means predictable installation and easier maintenance of order in the wiring and components located under the console.
