Purpose and function of the cable

The reversing camera connecting cable in BMW F-series models is responsible for the secure transmission of video signals and control signals between the camera and the parking system control unit. Thanks to the factory design, the correct harness topology is maintained, which reduces the risk of interference, image loss, or communication errors in the comfort system. This element is particularly useful when replacing a damaged harness, restoring the functionality of the factory reversing system, or retrofitting the car with an original camera while maintaining the manufacturer's standards.

Construction and integration with the BMW installation

The cable belongs to the Wires, harnesses and connectors group, which means it has been designed to work within the vehicle's electrical installation environment, with appropriately selected insulation and connectors. The terminals and sockets used are compatible with factory BMW connectors, which facilitates installation without the need for modifying the wiring or using adapters. Original connectors ensure:

• a stable, mechanically secure connection with modules and the camera,
• correct routing of video and control signals,
• reduced risk of contact oxidation due to the matched design.

Benefits of using an original cable

Using a used, original reversing camera cable in a BMW allows you to maintain the consistency of the installation with the rest of the vehicle's electrical system. This solution is particularly beneficial when you want to:

• maintain the factory image quality from the reversing camera,
• preserve correct cooperation with the multimedia system and parking sensors,
• avoid problems typical of replacements, such as loose connectors or incompatible pinouts. Thanks to this cable, you can orderly recreate the original harness routing in the vehicle, which facilitates future service and diagnostics.

Condition and service application

The item is offered in used condition, which in practice means it comes from disassembly and was previously operated in a vehicle. This type of part is a good choice for post-accident repairs, damage to harnesses within the trunk lid, or problems with the camera image resulting from a broken wire. Before installation, it is recommended to perform a standard visual inspection of the insulation and connectors, and then correctly route the cable according to the factory paths in the body to avoid mechanical stress and future damage.

Expanding the installation in the BMW wiring group

If you are planning a comprehensive repair or upgrade of the reversing system electrical installation in your BMW and need other elements from the same group, such as additional harnesses, connectors, or signal cable sections, check the available parts in the BMW Wires, harnesses and connectors category. For larger body and electrical installation repairs, especially after a collision, it is also worth checking out practical tips regarding the selection of used OEM components – you will find them in the article Bodywork and chassis – post-accident repairs using dismantled parts, which discusses, among other things, issues of quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of using dismantled parts.
