Purpose and function in the vehicle

The presented mirror is a component mounted in the rear interior area, on the windshield, responsible for monitoring the area behind the vehicle. The design dedicated to the BMW X3 E83 Japan Edition takes into account the specific equipment of this market, including the communication frequency used and integration with onboard systems. The EC (electrochromic) solution allows for automatic reduction of glare from the lights of vehicles behind, which improves driving comfort at night and reduces driver fatigue. Integrated LED lighting supports interior readability, and the ETC function is intended for cooperation with electronic systems used in vehicles for the Japanese market.

Construction and integration with BMW systems

The mirror belongs to the Rear view mirrors category and was designed as an OEM component for the BMW brand, which means it fits factory mounting points and is compatible with the vehicle's electrical harness. The housing integrates several sub-assemblies into one module, which simplifies installation and reduces the number of separate elements in the cabin. Key design features of this model include:

• electrochromic reflective surface, working with light intensity sensors,
• built-in LED lighting improving interior functionality,
• adaptation to communication in the standard used in Japan Edition versions. Thanks to its factory origin, the mirror maintains a consistent look with other elements of the BMW X3 E83 cockpit, which is important both aesthetically and ergonomically.

Condition, origin, and service application

The offered item is a used BMW component, which allows for an economical replacement of a damaged mirror while maintaining the manufacturer's original specification. This type of part is particularly useful in situations where it is necessary to restore full functionality of the automatic dimming system or interior lighting without interfering with the vehicle's installation. In workshop practice, the use of an original interior mirror from this series:

• facilitates diagnosis and installation by maintaining factory connectors,
• reduces the risk of electronics compatibility issues,
• allows maintaining equipment consistency with the Japan Edition configuration.
