Purpose and function in the vehicle

The presented dashboard storage compartment is part of the Storage compartments, doors, and locks category, dedicated to Porsche 911 (997 generation) and Boxster 987 models. It is responsible for the secure storage of documents, keys, and other small accessories, while also completing the stylistic line of the upper cockpit, which is important for both aesthetic and functional reasons. The original design ensures proper fitment with the dashboard, correct operation of the opening mechanism, and compatibility with factory mounting points. As a result, this component can be used both for standard replacement of a worn-out compartment and for interior reconstruction after disassembly or a collision.

Construction and technical features

The storage compartment is designed as a complete storage chamber with an outer door, an integrated opening and closing mechanism, and a precisely shaped housing matched to the geometry of the Porsche 911 997 / Boxster 987 dashboard. The construction includes factory mounting points, which facilitates installation and reduces the risk of improper seating in the cockpit. As an original component, the storage compartment maintains proper rigidity, stability, and ergonomic operation. The opening mechanism is adapted for daily use, and the shape of the door allows for convenient access to the contents without interfering with other dashboard elements.

Condition, fitment, and application

The offered storage compartment is in used condition, which allows for cost-effective interior repair while maintaining the manufacturer's original specifications. For proper selection, it is recommended to compare the OEM part number and interchangeable numbers with the component installed in the vehicle or with service documentation – this allows you to verify full compatibility with a specific equipment version. In practice, the storage compartment is suitable for situations such as:

• replacing a damaged or cracked dashboard storage compartment,
• restoring interior completeness after cockpit component disassembly,
• vehicle restoration where maintaining original Porsche components is essential.

Benefits of using an original Porsche storage compartment

Using an original dashboard storage compartment in a Porsche 911 997 or Boxster 987 provides several significant benefits:

• Factory fitment – maintaining the cockpit line, proper gaps, and alignment with adjacent interior elements.
• Consistent aesthetics – a uniform look for the dashboard, with no differences in shape or geometry compared to other elements.
• Hassle-free installation – utilization of original mounting points and the installation method intended by the manufacturer.
