How to choose the right lock or latch for a car?

It is safest to compare the OEM part number, interchangeable numbers, mounting side, and vehicle placement. It is also worth checking the body version, door type, connector type, and equipment, such as the presence of central locking or a keyless system. For parts from different model years, compatibility with pre-facelift and post-facelift versions is also important.

What symptoms indicate wear of a lock or latch?

Typical symptoms include difficulty opening, no response to the remote, the need to slam the door harder, and rattling coming from the pillar or tailgate area.
