Purpose and body fitment

The described glass is an element designed for the rear left body section, specifically the side window behind the driver's door in the Jaguar Xk8 X100 generation model. Thanks to its factory origin, the correct glass curvature, tilt angle, and contact line with seals and the body frame are maintained, which facilitates installation and reduces the risk of leaks. Original glass of this type is particularly important in GT-class cars, such as the Jaguar Xk8, where precise fitment of components affects not only aesthetics but also acoustic comfort and the durability of seals.

Technical characteristics of the glass

The glass belongs to the group of tempered side windows used in modern bodywork, which translates into appropriate resistance to stress and a safe breakage pattern in the event of damage. The glass class marking (AS2) indicates its use in side and rear vehicle glazing, while maintaining the required standards for light transmission and operational safety. As an original component for the Jaguar brand, the glass is prepared to work with factory mounts and guides, which allows for the proper operation of opening or tilting mechanisms (if present in the vehicle's specific configuration) and stable seating in the frame.

Benefits of using original pre-owned glass

Choosing an original side window from dismantling is a solution that combines technical correctness with a reasonable repair budget. Unlike many aftermarket replacements, OEM glass maintains the identical shade, shape, and edge finish as the other windows in the car, which is particularly important in premium-class vehicles. A pre-owned element also helps to minimize differences in color and light reflections between individual windows, which can be noticeable when installing cheaper replacements. This is a practical solution for localized damage, such as cracks, chips, or so-called "spider webs" on the glass.

Professional installation and operational safety

To fully utilize the potential of this glass, it is recommended to have it installed by a specialized automotive glass service. Proper surface preparation, selection of seals, and inspection of the seating geometry contribute to body tightness, the absence of rattles and squeaks while driving, and long-term stability of the component. Why it is better to choose a pre-owned original with the manufacturer's logo when replacing. This is a practical addition to your knowledge before making a repair decision.
